Swift recruits senior executive from Google
Swift has appointed Julien Blanchez as its Head of Data Analytics, a newly created role in which he will be responsible for further building out the cooperative’s global data analytics strategy.
Blanchez will be tasked with enhancing Swift’s use of data to provide greater value for the community, ensuring customers are able to harness data to improve and develop their products and services and leveraging data to improve Swift’s own product development.
Blanchez joins Swift from Google, where he worked as a Global Security and Compliance Strategist. Blanchez spent ten years with Google’s security engineering teams, in California and Europe, where he worked with highly regulated organisations in the financial Services, healthcare and defence sectors, and their regulators to address security and compliance issues relating to cloud.
This key appointment is a clear demonstration of our determination to further leverage data both to improve Swift’s own product development as well as to help customers deploy new services, whilst still maintaining safeguards around data privacy and security.
Luc Meurant, Chief Marketing Officer, Swift, said: “Julien’s track record and experience as a data and compliance strategist gives Swift the ability to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by the harnessing of big data. This key appointment is a clear demonstration of our determination to further leverage data both to improve Swift’s own product development as well as to help customers deploy new services, whilst still maintaining safeguards around data privacy and security.”
Prior to joining Google, Blanchez held functions in SAP’s global corporate strategy group in Germany, with BARCO in Singapore and The Boston Consulting Group in Belgium.
Julien, who will be based in Belgium, is also an Advisory Member of ENISA, the European Agency for Network and Information Security. He joined Swift in September 2018.
