Swift at Sibos 2026: Digital finance for AI-driven economies

Technology and Innovation,
2 September 2026 | 4 min read

As customer expectations continue to rise and financial services become increasingly digital, Swift at Sibos will explore how institutions can deliver better outcomes while maintaining the trust on which global finance depends.

From 28 September to 1 October, the global financial community will gather at the Miami Beach Convention Center for Sibos 2026.

Under the theme of ‘Digital finance for AI-driven economies’, this year's conference will explore how emerging technologies, new forms of value and changing customer expectations are reshaping financial services.

Alongside the main conference, our dedicated Swift at Sibos programme will examine what those shifts mean in practice.

From reducing friction in cross-border payments to enabling new forms of value and strengthening trust in an AI-driven future, we’ll examine some of the most pressing issues facing financial institutions today through three dedicated themes:

Deliver the experience customers expect

Whether moving money across borders, supporting global commerce or managing liquidity, customers increasingly expect payments to be fast, transparent and predictable, from initiation through to the beneficiary.

Meeting these expectations will require more than one product or isolated improvement. It requires the entire chain, from preparation and processing to interoperability, operations and the customer interface, to work together.

This track will examine how the industry is reducing friction across the payment journey and delivering more consistent end-to-end outcomes for customers.

Move value in all forms

As new forms of digital value emerge, financial institutions are operating across an increasingly diverse ecosystem of networks, platforms and assets. While this creates opportunities for greater efficiency and innovation, it also raises the risk of introducing new fragmentation across platforms and operating models.

Across the industry, attention is increasingly turning to the infrastructure needed to connect these developments. Tokenised assets, digital trade initiatives and changes to securities markets such as T+1 settlement all depend on strong foundations if they are to scale successfully.

This track will explore how shared foundations can help traditional and emerging forms of value coexist, enabling innovation to scale across the financial ecosystem.

Reinforce trust in an AI-driven future

AI and other emerging technologies are creating new opportunities across financial services, while also introducing new risks and dependencies across the financial ecosystem.

In this rapidly changing environment, trust remains the foundation that allows innovation to scale. As technology continues to evolve and new threats emerge, financial institutions must continue to strengthen the security and resilience of the infrastructure on which the global economy depends.

This track explores how the financial community is responding, from strengthening operational resilience and protecting critical infrastructure to understanding the role emerging technologies will play in the future of money movement.

It also examines how financial institutions are adapting as sustainability priorities continue to evolve.
