Swift Director since 2023. He is a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan and was recently appointed as Chief Controls Manager for the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB), where he manages a global team of 1,000 controls professionals that lead and execute on strategic controls initiatives and provide first line of defense governance for all businesses in the CIB.
Prior to managing Controls for the CIB, Graeme was the Global Head of Payments Operations, supporting cash payments, cash management, trade finance, liquidity, and merchant services products. In this role, Graeme oversaw the daily execution of over $10 trillion of payments transactions, while solutioning strategically to support existing products and their expansion as well as new products, jurisdictions, clients, and client segments.
Prior to leading Payments Operations, Graeme was the Global Head of Derivatives Operations, which oversaw the confirmation, settlement, and collateralization of J.P. Morgan’s Derivatives and FX franchise. During this period, Graeme represented J.P. Morgan on several industry bodies, including the Federal Reserve Bank’s Foreign Exchange Operations Manager working group, the Bank of England’s Joint Standing Committee Operations workgroup, and the Association of Financial Markets Europe Technology and Operations Board. He acted as chair to the latter two industry bodies for four years and two years, respectively, during which time they established industry best practices, such as automation of trade confirmations, and issued white papers on subjects such as industry utilities.
In addition to senior leadership roles supporting specific product areas (i.e. payments, derivatives, securities & custody), Graeme also has experience in building technology applications and technology infrastructure management during his 30 plus year career at the firm. He also has significant international leadership experience from five assignments within J.P. Morgan’s global network including roles as Head of Technology for J.P. Morgan Frankfurt, and Head of Technology for all EMEA branches, while he was based in Paris. He was also the location leader for J.P. Morgan’s 5,000-employee Technology and Operations hub in Bournemouth, England. Graeme graduated from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, with an Honors Degree in Statistics and then joined J.P. Morgan as part of the Technology Graduate Program.
