Swift is committed to support the ten universally accepted principles of the UNCG and to advance those principles within our company.
- Swift has taken a series of initiatives which focus on reducing our impact on the environment, such as investing in reforestation projects, getting rid of single-use plastic, reducing waste and increasing our recycling efforts in our offices, promoting green mobility and implementing measures to reduce our energy consumption. Swift continues to endorse diversity and inclusion throughout our organisation, promotes staff satisfaction and wellbeing, and encourages employees to support local charitable initiatives around the globe. In line with our business, we fund educational projects fostering the financial inclusion of underprivileged communities.
Swift is pleased to announce the publication of our seventh annual Communication on Progress to the UN Global Compact, presenting our 2019 progress towards the Ten principles of the UN Global Compact, and herewith our support to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In October 2012, Swift became a signatory to the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest strategic corporate platform for companies to align strategies and operations with Ten universally accepted Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and take actions to advance societal goals. By joining the initiative, Swift also agreed to issue an annual Communication on Progress (COP), a public disclosure to stakeholders on progress made to implement the Ten Principles.
Swift’s seventh annual UNGC COP was submitted in March 2020. This report shows the main tangible actions taken by Swift and the outcome achieved in 2019 with regards to the Ten Principles. In particular, it describes how Swift has progressed on a series of initiatives, both internally and externally. Internally, we focused our efforts on reviewing our environmental strategy, reducing plastic waste by encouraging re-use and recycling, and on implementing measures to reduce our energy consumption. We also continued to encourage staff engagement in CSR activities and to promote diversity and inclusion. Externally, we continued to support a growing number of organisations aiming to provide equitable quality education and access to financial services.
