Customer Security Programme recognised at The Risk (Operational Risk) Awards ceremony
The Risk Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious awards for firms and individuals involved in the global derivatives markets and in risk management. The Operational Risk Awards are particularly special as they recognise innovation and technology that have directly reduced risk in the financial ecosystem.
As always, it brought together a complete cross-section of the market: sell-side salespeople and traders, buy-side portfolio and risk managers, quants, exchanges, trading platforms and clearing houses, technology firms, non-bank liquidity providers, lawyers and more – recognising their achievements, and those of the industry as a whole.
This year saw the SWIFT Customer Security Programme recognised, winning the award for Cyber Security Product of the Year.
‘SWIFT CSP is uniquely global in scope and unparelled in reach. It is aimed at every customer, from the very smallest to the largest. By design, it seeks to overcome barriers and reach all geographies,” said Vikesh Patel, Head of UK, Ireland and Nordics, as he collected the award on behalf of SWIFT.
‘We set out to establish a dedicated initiative designed to reinforce and safeguard the security of the wider payments ecosystem. It is the first time that the cybersecurity problem has been addressed systematically and globally through a communitywide approach that is agnostic to customers’ size, location or revenue potential.
It is the result of an amazing amount of hard work across the company, developing and rolling out the programme, engaging with customers, publishing a first of its kind report together with cyber specialists, creating of an Information Sharing and Analysis Centre and so much more,” said Vikesh. ‘It’s a real honour to have the CSP recognised by our peers for the impact it has made.”
