Transforming the ASEAN landscape with Innovation and Cybersecurity
The pace of change in the financial services industry is rapid with a multitude of forces transforming the world in which financial institutions operate within. As one of the key pillar countries of the ASEAN, Singapore has changed significantly over the last two years since they have embarked on their Smart Nation mission.
The SWIFT Business Forum Singapore 2017 will gather the local community representing financial institutions, market infrastructures, regulators, multinational corporations, and other industry experts to discuss the key issues facing the nation’s financial market development, with a specific focus on innovation and cybersecurity.
Against the backdrop of technological disruptions, the world must evolve to stay relevant and adapt its economy to global trends. From alternative payment solutions to peer-to-peer lending, fintech has helped shaped an increasingly innovative and inclusive financial system, and will continue to take the lead in transforming the nation into a Smart Nation by 2025. SWIFT will explore the current payments system in Singapore and how the community can leverage on SWIFT to improve cross-border payments with greater speed, transparency, and end-to-end tracking.
As more and more financial services are being delivered online, the frequency, scale, and complexity of cyber attacks on FIs have increased globally. Hackers and cyber criminals are constantly probing IT systems for weaknesses to exploit. SWIFT and its community of members are coming together in offering industry-wide collaboration and solutions in tackling these threats and to strengthen the industry’s cyber security.
I am confident that the SWIFT Business Forum Singapore will offer an opportunity for our community gather on a common platform to explore ideas and strategies to combat the ever-changing financial landscape, and remain in front of the challenges we will face. We will also run a SWIFT Standards Forum Singapore the following day covering testimonials on ISO 20022 implementation, the role standards play in enabling the industry to meet its latest challenges, and how this all integrates into the world of fintech.
I look forward to meeting you all in February.
