Mauro is Global Transaction Banking Business Director at Intesa Sanpaolo. He has more than 30 years of experience in banking and financial services, with expertise spanning cash management, digital solutions, compliance, asset management and custody.

Prior to joining the Global Transaction Banking business, Mauro held a range of leadership positions within the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, including Chief Operating Officer for the asset management entity and Compliance Officer for Payments Products. He was also seconded in the European Central Bank, where he contributed to the drafting of the user requirements for TARGET2-Securities (TS2).

Since joining Intesa Saopaolo in 2000, Mauro has played a key role in the development of transaction banking and cash management activities across the Group. Since 2023, he has focused on digital innovation initiatives, including digital assets and the digital euro, from a business perspective.

Before entering the banking sector, Mayro worked as a research fellow in Physics at the Max Planck Institute in Munich and at Drexel University in the Unites States, publishing research in quantum optics. He also held positions with JPMorgan, Accenture and BNP Paribas.
