Follow these steps to apply to join our community as a SWIFT user
1. Create your swift.com user account
If you already have a swift.com user account, proceed directly to the next step.
If you don’t have a swift.com user account yet, create your account using the user registration form.
Watch the video or read the user guide (pdf) for further instructions.
3. Start the formal SWIFT application
As soon as you confirm by email that the SWIFT commercial quotation is in line with the discussions held with the sales representative, SWIFT will validate your organisation registration and quotation information.
Following validation, you will receive an email from email@example.com with a link to initiate the formal request to become a SWIFT user.
See the Quick Starter Guide (pdf) for more details or the onboarding tool.
4. Provide data and legal documents
As an applicant SWIFT user, you will need to comply with one of the defined SWIFT user categories.
Subject to the SWIFT user category in which you apply, you will need to supply a number of documents and/or information details related to your organisation. Please already prepare at a minimum the following documents (non-exhaustive list) and consult our guidance document providing more details on the requirements applicable for each document.
SWIFT reserves the right to request additional documents in the scope of its Know Your Customer validation process. Failure to provide the documents in a timely manner or insufficient evidence of its compliance with the eligibility criteria and conditions for admission may be a cause for rejection of an application file or a ground for SWIFT not to commence the admission process or validate the application.
You will also be asked to place your orders for SWIFT products and services. You will be guided through the different steps in the On-boarding Tool: Legal, Configuration, Financial.
Based on the information completed and documents received, SWIFT will validate whether your company meets the eligibility criteria to become a SWIFT user.
The person who initiated the application will be the point of contact throughout the onboarding process. However, different steps of the application process may be delegated to a colleague, completed in parallel and submitted independently.
5. Legal acceptance and BIC creation
Once your information and documents have been validated and are considered in compliance with admission conditions, SWIFT will confirm in writing the acceptance of your organisation as a SWIFT user.
We will also confirm your Business Identifier Code (BIC) and your SWIFT user category, which will determine which SWIFT products and services you may order and use.
Once you have been legally accepted as a SWIFT User, you may implement and install your chosen connectivity and interface products.
SWIFT will prepare the draft order(s) based on your quotation (if applicable). SWIFT administrators will review and approve the final order(s). For more information, see our swift.com administrator guidelines (pdf).
Depending on your choice of connectivity, SWIFT will dispatch any required components (e.g. Alliance Lite2 tokens, VPNs, software and Security Officer secure code cards and secrets). Please follow instructions in the shipment parcels carefully as some items require receipt confirmation.
To implement SWIFT cloud-based connectivity, a SWIFT Implementation Consultant will contact you.
For owned or shared connectivity, please consult with your connectivity provider/owner on next steps.
In parallel to implementation, you will need to start your Customer Security Programme self-attestation (KYC-SA) for your newly created BIC(s). Your swift.com administrators will receive an email within five working days following legal approval advising the ‘KYC-SA portal’ is open and your infrastructure provider will assist you with identifying your Architecture Type.
7. Activation of SWIFT messaging services
Once you have installed your chosen connectivity and interface products, you can test your connection.
For SWIFT cloud-based connectivity, the activation date of your BIC will be agreed with the SWIFT implementation consultant .
For own or shared connectivity, you may confirm your operational readiness and preferred activation date following satisfactory implementation and testing.
Activations occur every Saturday with your operational readiness confirmed the Friday of previous week.
