Christopher Cherdel is a seasoned banking executive with over 20 years of experience in financial strategy, balance sheet management and risk oversight within commercial banking. Since 2008, he has served as Managing Director, Head of Corporate Centre, ALM, Treasury and Bank Relations at Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, one of Switzerland’s largest cantonal banks. In this role, he oversees strategic balance sheet management, treasury, funding programme and interbank activities, with a focus on managing it’s capital and liquidity frameworks.
As head of the bank relations he is in charge of the bank’s relationships with correspondent banks and the custodian network. As such he also oversees the industry-wide projects in which the bank participates, focusing on the applications of blockchain technology to payments and securities transactions.
Previously, at CSC Peat Marwick (2000–2005), he advised major banks on ALM models, financial strategies, and capital allocation. At Banque WORMS (AXA group), he was part of the ALM team in charge of derivatives hedging transactions and risk control. He holds an MPhil in Banking/Finance (Paris Dauphine) and an MSc in Capital Markets (Reading/Paris Nanterre).
