Group Payments Head, Global Transaction Services, DBS Bank

Atul Bhuchar is the Group Payments Head at DBS Global Transaction Services. In this role, he leads the strategy, development, innovation and commercialisation of DBS’ payables management solutions for businesses and financial institutions internationally. Under his leadership, the bank has pioneered several new digital payment initiatives, such as being the 1st bank to launch Online Swift GPI tracking for cross-border payments in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Taiwan; 1st set of banks to go-live with PayNow Corporate in Singapore and Faster Payment System in Hong Kong; leveraging APIs for instant payables and receivables solutions in Singapore, Hong Kong, India (UPI), Indonesia (RTOL Bersama), China (China UnionPay) and Taiwan (eACH). DBS continues to be at the forefront of payments transformation in Asia. DBS participated in the Swift proof of concept for instant cross-border payments into Australia, and thereafter, led the Standards Workgroup and participated in the Swift trial for instant cross-border payments into Singapore. Atul was part of the core-team that developed DBS Treasury Prism, the world’s first online treasury and cash management platform for CFOs and corporate treasurers. Since joining DBS in 2004, Atul has held other roles such as Head of Cash Management in DBS India, where he was responsible for establishing and leading the bank's cash management business in the country, and thereafter, Group Head of Liquidity Management, Liabilities and Accounts. Atul’s experience spans across treasury, corporate banking, securities services, trade finance and cash management, in various roles across operations, sales, product management and relationship management functions. Atul started his career with Citi bank in 1997 and then worked with HSBC, before joining DBS. He holds an MBA from Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies and Bachelor degree in Engineering also from Delhi University in India.
