The vision behind our Corporate Social Responsibility

Our business is global. SWIFT works with and for financial communities across the globe. We know this is a privilege as well as a responsibility, and we are committed to making a positive impact wherever we can.

We integrate social, environmental, ethical, and human rights concerns into our operational strategy. Education, diversity, sustainability, community outreach—our belief in the importance of these issues is embedded in our company mind-set. Our intermediary role in the financial industry also puts us in a great position to facilitate dialogue on these topics.

In October 2012, we also became a United Nations Global Compact participant. The initiative aims to create a sustainable and inclusive global economy by calling on companies to align strategies and operations with the Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

With 12,000+ signatories in 170 countries, the UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. As a signatory, we commit to issuing an annual Communication on Progress (COP), a public disclosure on progress made in implementing the Ten Principles.


We have introduced progressive sustainability initiatives, and we have already reached one emission-reduction benchmark early. Next up: to be carbon neutral by 2020.

Community outreach

A focus on children and education is at the heart of our programme. We encourage our staff across the globe to get involved in their communities.

We integrate diversity and inclusion into our recruitment and talent-development programmes. A richness of gender, race, age and backgrounds in a global workforce delivers unique insights.
