SWIFT offers two sets of its traditional standards in the trade services area - standards for documentary collections and cash letters (MT 4xx) and standards for documentary credits and guarantees (MT 7xx). If you are interested in using the SWIFT network for your trade service business, this course is for you!


Audience

This course is designed for all supervisors and staff who handle collections, cash letters and documentary credits as well as for business and IT analysts and programmers.

Prior knowledge

It's an advantage to have a basic knowledge of SWIFT and an understanding of collections and documentary credits. We also recommend that participants are familiar with SWIFT payment messages. This knowledge can be acquired through the classroom course or eTraining package Payments and cash management — using FIN messages

Duration

The course duration depends on the learning channel you choose:

You will learn how to:

  • Complete SWIFT trade services messages (categories 4 and 7) by acquiring the latest and in-depth knowledge
  • Find the correct information fast by knowing where to look in the SWIFT standards
  • Improve security and enhance your customer service offering by using SWIFT messages for your collection and documentary credits business

This two-day course provides detailed explanations and case studies on the following:

  • Collections (MTs 400, 410, 412, 416, 420, 422, 430)
  • Cash letters (MTs 450, 455, 456)
  • Documentary credits (MTs 700, 701, 705, 707, 710, 711, 720, 721, 730, 732, 734, 740, 742, 747, 750, 752, 754, 756)
  • Guarantees (MTs 760, 767, 768, 769)
  • Where can you find information in the SWIFT standards to help you complete category 4 and 7 messages
  • Advice on how you should formulate the related payment order (MT 202) to execute the transfer of funds
  • How to create common group messages (MTs 791, 796)
