This course provides you with the basic principles of the securities markets. It will help you understand the different instruments such as bonds and equities, who the market players are and how they interact, what settlement is and the basics of corporate actions. This course can also be used to build a good foundation for the more specialised training sessions on SWIFT's products and services for the securities markets.

Audience

The course targets anyone who needs a basic understanding of the securities markets and SWIFT securities messages, typically newly hired staff in institutions such as custodians, securities market infrastructures, investment/asset managers, data providers and broker/dealers.

You will learn how to

• How SWIFT facilitates standardised communications and processing at all levels of the lifecycle of the transaction – from trade initiation to settlement and corporate actions

Prior knowledge

No prior knowledge is required. However, if you are new to SWIFT, we recommend you to first follow the eTraining package or classroom course Basics - your passport to SWIFT.

The course duration depends on the learning channel you choose:

• On-site training: as per your requirements
• SWIFT eTraining: 3 hours
