Updated on 4 May 2009

At the end of 2009, SWIFT's distributed architecture goes live. The new architecture will partition messaging into two zones, the European zone and the Trans-Atlantic zone, with pairs of Operating Centres that store and process the traffic for each zone. In order to benefit from the new messaging infrastructure, customers are required to upgrade their software before the end of November 2009.

Available on the download centre since 1 May 2009, the required software will ensure that you are able to utilise the new distributed architecture and that traffic is routed to the correct zone (Trans-Atlantic or European).

You can choose to:

  1. either install a patch on releases 6.0 and 6.1 of SWIFTNet Link and Alliance WebStation,
  2. or upgrade your communications software to release 6.3.

While the patches provide the necessary changes, release 6.3 brings additional capabilities such as increased HSM capacity and enhanced SWIFTNet messaging features.

It is essential that you install the required upgrades before the end of November 2009.
