Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Updated 3 December 2009
For more than five years now, SWIFT has been offering to its Users the opportunity to sign up for specific Service Levels under the Service Level Master Agreement (SLMA).The objective of these Service Levels is to help the SWIFT user community to improve the quality of its cross-border payments services by providing certainty and transparency to its end customers, that is, execution of a payment transaction within a pre-defined timeframe, with fees and charges that are known in advance. Specific redress procedures are also foreseen as appropriate.
The SLMA and Service Levels documents has recently been revised. The updated documents are now available on swift.com for download:
Important: Please note that the “Request for transfer” Service Level has been further amended since it appeared that it still reflected an old validation rule regarding consistency of amounts in the MT 101. For more information about the applicable validation rule, see the use of Fields 32B, 33B, 36 and 21F in point 4 of the table on page 9 of the “Request for transfer” Service Level available for download above.
To avoid any doubt, existing participating institutions do not need to subscribe again to the SLMA and relevant Service Levels. Revised documents apply to them automatically.
