The EURO1/STEP1 Directory allows EURO1/STEP1 Participants and Sub-participants to list other banks for which they act as correspondents for payments sent through the EURO1/STEP1 system. The directory is updated monthly and it reflects the list of BICs participating in EURO1 and/or STEP1 and the banks entered by EURO1/STEP1 Participants as reachable destinations.

The directory is cross-referenced with the BIC Directory to reflect changes in BIC codes or membership in EURO1/STEP1.



The EURO1/STEP1 Directory contains:

  • The BICs, name, city and country of EURO1/STEP1 participants
  • The BICs, name, city and country of EURO1/STEP1 reachable banks
  • The BIC of the EURO1/STEP1 correspondent
  • The service code of the EURO1/STEP1 correspondent 

EURO1/STEP1 Participants use the EURO1/STEP1 Directory to:
  • Identify whether a bank is reachable through the EURO1/STEP1 system
  • Derive the EURO1/STEP1 correspondent BIC for reachable banks on EURO1/STEP1
  • Retrieve the EURO1/STEP1 correspondents service code for inclusion in the FINCopy message
