Directories Download Automation
SWIFT supports the automated download of directory files from swift.com.
Users can write a script to automate the download of directories from the Directories Download page.
Requirements
- Download automation is only authorised for institutions that have purchased at least one of the downloadable directories. Access to downloadable files is controlled by the type of license purchased.
- You must use an account who has been registered as a BIC download user. All accounts who are registered as BIC download users will be able to automatically download the permitted directory files.
Account Registration Procedure
- Access the e-form to register a BIC download user.
- Enter the requested information. The new BIC download user must already be registered on swift.com when you enter the e-mail address on this form.
IMPORTANT restriction
DO NOT USE an account that is registered for multiple BICs using the same e-mail address.
The automated download will NOT WORK for accounts who have registered for multiple BICs, with the same e-mail address.
- Once you have submitted the e-form, SWIFT will grant the user access to BIC download.
- The account will inherit access to all downloadable directories for which your institution (BIC) has subscribed to.
The account will have the possibility to request access to other SWIFT.com services such as order forms. Your swift.com administrator must approve such requests.
The termination of the subscription to any of the downloadable directories by one of your registered users may impact the permisssions granted to your account.

SWIFT has published detailed interface technical specification documents that describe how SWIFT customers can use this new service from the SWIFT website, and how programmers can write code to invoke the service.
