Shared infrastructure

Users that prefer to outsource their connectivity to a third-party can choose between the following three options:

• outsource day-to-day operations to a third-party called a service bureau
• connect via a member-concentrator which in addition to technical outsourcing provides additional business services like taking care of the SWIFT administration and invoicing
• use a shared connection by connecting via the interfaces of another customer.

SWIFT operates a programme to register service bureaux and member-concentrators, and maintain high standards of resiliency and security. Only  service bureaux and member-concentrators that are registered under the shared infrastructure programme are able to connect SWIFT users. The programme sets out the operational requirements covering resiliency and security that all providers are required to meet. These requirements are available for download.

SWIFT also awards labels to providers under the shared infrastructure programme to help users identify the best connectivity providers.

Two labels are available:

• The operational assurance label
• SWIFTReady Connectivity - Best Practice label
