ESES via SWIFTNet
Updated 17 March 2008
SWIFT connectivity to the Euroclear Settlement for Euronext-zone Securities (ESES) platform is an excellent opportunity to leverage your investment in SWIFTNet.
Our connectivity solution is easy to integrate and operate, with minimal time, effort and investment. By choosing SWIFT for your ESES connectivity, you'll be re-using the same tried and tested SWIFTNet services and infrastructure that already serve other areas of your business. It means:
- Costs and time-needed for the migration are kept to a minimum.
- Risk is greatly reduced.
- You'll capitalise on your in-house SWIFTNet expertise.
SWIFT provides
- a fully resilient infrastructure;
- the highest availability, reliability and security in the industry;
- 24/7 support;
- a standardised environment, compliant with key European harmonisation initiatives, such as Giovannini, the European Commission's Code of Conduct and MiFID; and
- flexible connectivity packages for new SWIFT users, including the option of either a direct or indirect (for example, via a Service Bureau) connection.
Using SWIFT services to connect to the ESES platform
ESES communications are possible through two different channels:
- An STP message-by-message channel: this uses SWIFTNet FIN (based on ISO 15022 messaging).
Note: Euroclear France users can continue to use their E2A communication channel, based on RGV proprietary message formats, via SWIFTNet InterAct or FileAct. - A manual channel: Euroclear provides two complementary options:
- ScreenFlow: this will be the first version of the CCI manual interface and can be used for custody messaging in ISO 15022 format and payments messaging.
- e-RGV: this manual interface can be used for settlement, payments and custody, but only in RGV proprietary formats.
Service availability
Euroclear confirmed the following key milestones:
- Participant Acceptance Test (PAT) Connectivity phase will start in April 2008. This will allow clients to first test the network connectivity, ScreenFlow deployment and log on (without accessing the underlying business application software), and the syntactical validation of ISO 15022 messages over CCI. This will be followed by testing of ScreenFlow custody screens and operator access management from May until the start of the below mentioned functional PAT cycles. Clients who are not yet using eRGV screens, will also have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with these screens.
- The first full end-to-end functional PAT cycle will start on 4 August 2008 and the second one on 20 October 2008. Both testing periods will be preceded by a launch rehearsal weekend; and
- The final ESES Stream 3 migration is scheduled for 28 November 2008 with the first settlement date on the ESES platform on 1 December 2008.

Technical requirements for migration to the ESES platform
The picture below shows the interfaces required for your ESES communications.
- For STP message-by-message communications you will need a FIN Interface
- For manual communications:
- ScreenFlow: This application (a Graphical User Interface) will be provided by Euroclear. To communicate via SWIFT, you need to install a new component on your SWIFTAlliance Gateway, the Web Services Host Adapter (WSHA)
- e-RGV: This uses standard SWIFTNet Browse so, you will just need to install and configure your SWIFTAlliance WebStation.
