SWIFT is concerned about the environment and is committed to reducing its CO2 footprint. In partnership with the International Polar Foundation, SWIFT is launching a challenge to the financial community to reduce the carbon footprint of Sibos 2010 in Amsterdam. Meeting the challenge will only be possible if all Sibos participants and stakeholders contribute.

Let’s share ideas on how to meet this challenge:

• Visit the International Polar Foundation stand located on level 3, next to the SWIFT stand.
• Join the International Polar Foundation session on Thursday 17 Sept at 12:15 (Open Theatre Level Three).
• Participate in the SibosLab ‘Greening Sibos’ on Tuesday 15 Sept from 17:00 to 18:30.
• Contribute ideas to the ‘Greening Sibos‘ community on swiftcommunity.net.

Greening Sibos is the responsibility of everyone of us, and it starts now… let’s all be more conscious of being green, e.g. think twice before using taxis instead of public transportation!

Giving back to the community


One Laptop Per Child

One Laptop per Child will be present at Sibos 2009. OLPC is a non-profit organisation with a mission to empower children in developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child. To accomplish this goal, they need people who believe in what they are doing and want to help make education for the world’s children a priority, not a privilege. SWIFT is one of OLPC’s major partners and supports projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

How can you help?

• OLPC is looking to connect people and organisations within the financial community that can further support them. Visit the OLPC stand located in Exhibition Hall 3, Lounge 4, next to the SWIFT stand.
• Join the OLPC session on Thursday 17 Sept at 14:00 in the Open Theatre Level 3, to get an update on their recent achievements and to find out how you can contribute.

Changing Young Lives Foundation

With Sibos in Hong Kong this year SWIFT will support a local organisation that shares our values and for which our contribution would mean a lot. We have selected the Hong Kong based Changing Young Lives Foundation which focuses on imroving underprivileged children’s lives. SWIFT will donate EUR 10,000 to this foundation as well as any unused Sibos bags.

During Sibos, SWIFT will make it easy for everyone to help this foundation. Coin boxes will be located on the SWIFT stand. SWIFT will also collect left-over stand giveaways from the exhibition stands on Friday morning.
