New software for HSM boxes
As from 1 January 2011, all new and replacement HSM boxes will be shipped with software version 5.4.1 instead of 5.0.2

As a consequence of the mandatory Distributed Architecture upgrade of your SWIFTNet Link instances in November 2009, your HSM boxes must have been upgraded to the accompanying HSM software version. Therefore, SWIFT will only deliver new and replacement HSM boxes with software version 5.4.1 as of 1 January 2011. |

What is the impact for you?
- Your cluster is already running on software version 5.4.1
No need to upgrade new or replacement boxes anymore. Just add them to your HSM cluster.
- Your HSM cluster is running on software version 5.5.2
Upgrade your new or replacement HSM box from 5.4.1 to 5.5.2, which is easier than upgrading from 5.0.2 to 5.5.2.
- Your HSM cluster is still running on a lower version: upgrade as soon as possible to the mandated version.
If on 1 Jan 2011, you still have a HSM cluster running on a lower version and one of your HSM boxes has to be replaced, you will first have to upgrade your remaining working HSM box to 5.4.1 before you can add the spare unit to rebuild the cluster.
