Overview

SWIFT is actively supporting its members and customers in their implementation of SEPA by developing standards and providing a set of products and services to facilitate operation and interoperability across the industry.  This includes a programme for testing and self-assessing compliance to the "core" SEPA Standards as well as tools and directories to ensure correct IBAN -BIC combinations and efficient routing of transactions.

SWIFT’s value proposition for SEPA is to provide the common denominator between the competing clearing and settlement mechanisms across Europe. It will enable banks to seamlessly interoperate with any clearing and settlement mechanism, and therefore design and build industrial strength back offices capable of maintaining or improving current efficiency levels, agile and at the same time resilient to changes in the clearing and settlement landscape. 

Close to 1500 payments professionals across SEPA have attended roadshows and seminars organised by SWIFT and its community, where they could network, provide input, and receive information on the latest solutions developments.  We want to thank them for their overwhelming support and their contribution to our offering.
