Change SWIFTNet Security Officer Registration

Replace main SWIFTNet Security Officers

When you replace a main SWIFTNet Security Officer, the remaining online Security Officers must revoke/disable the former Security Officer, and they must register the replacing Security Officer online, by means of the Local Registration Authority (LRA) module. A representative of your human resources department or a public officer (for example, a notary) must authenticate the identity of the Security Officer and must confirm the authority of the Security Officer on the printed form.

For information on the Security Officer’s role in the management of certificates, see the SWIFTNet Certificate Administration Guide and the SWIFTNet Service Description.

The submission includes the following steps:
  • Step 1 (online): Complete the replace main SWIFTNet Security Officer form, and print the duly completed form when the transaction is confirmed (in step 3 of the form). Click on the "Print" button at the bottom left of the form.
  • Step 2 (offline): Obtain all the signatures that are required on the printed form. Send the original via express courier service to S.W.I.F.T. SCRL, End-to-End Ordering-Customer Security Management, Avenue Adèle 1, 1310 La Hulpe, Belgium.

After the receipt of the original form, SWIFT will send a confirmation letter to the already registered main Security Officer. This letter will mention the identity of your new Security Officer.

Change from shared to own SWIFTNet Security Officer

If you want to change from shared to own SWIFTNet Security Officer (in order to manage your PKI certificates yourself), you must appoint two main Security Officers by completing for each of them the appropriate form as indicated below.

As Security Officers, you are an authorised representative for all the communication with SWIFT about SWIFTNet security. You are responsible for the management of your institution’s PKI certificates. A representative of your human resources department or a public officer (for example, a notary) must authenticate your identity and must confirm your authority.

For information on the Security Officer’s role in the management of certificates, see the SWIFTNet Certificate Administration Guide and the SWIFTNet Service Description.

  • Step 3: Complete the secret question and answer section and send the original to S.W.I.F.T. SCRL, Security Management Centre, Avenue Adèle 1, 1310 La Hulpe, Belgium.

The PKI registration will be activated only when both Security Officers have completed the registration process.
