Step 1: Is your institution eligible to join?
The SWIFT user categories are defined in three main groups:
  • Supervised Financial Institution
  • Non-Supervised Entity active in the financial industry
  • Closed User Groups and Corporate entities. This group is composed of the following SWIFT User categories: Corporate, Financial Market Regulator, Payment System Participant, Securities Market Data Provider, Securities Market Infrastructure System Participant, Service Participant within Member Administered Closed User Group and Treasury Counterparty.

Description You deploy the messaging software, security and network connectivity in your own premises and manage the components yourself. Offers maximum flexibility, control and integration options. You outsource your SWIFT operations to a third party service provider such as a Service bureau. You simply use your existing Internet connection and browser to connect to SWIFT.
