SWIFT runs a series of system recovery simulations of the store-and-forward system on the Integration Test Bed (ITB). These simulations allow messaging interface providers validate their software for correct implementation after a store-and-forward system recovery.
Support for store-and-forward system recovery is a mandatory functionality that must be implemented on SWIFTNet 7.0 store-and-forward InterAct and FileAct messaging interfaces. Vendors wanting to qualify their interfaces on SWIFTNet 7.0 must participate to one of the scheduled store-and-forward system recovery sessions and demonstrate that their interfaces successfully passed the tests as part of SWIFT's interface qualification programme.
To allow vendors run these tests, SWIFT will bring the store-and-forward system down and simulate the loss of approximately one hour of data prior to the system recovery. Messages sent between 15:00 and 16:00 GMT that are not received prior to the system recovery will be removed from the queues.
Participating vendors will need to send and receive traffic at the time of the test in order to check their product behaviour when the store-and-forward system becomes available again.
Vendors that do not want to participate must take into account that data sent up to one hour prior to the scheduled system recovery can be lost.
Note that real-time traffic and FIN traffic are not impacted by this downtime.
