A Vision for Singapore, A Vision for Asia
Celebrating 30 years of collaboration
Thirty years ago — on 7 April 1980 exactly — Singapore started its live operation on SWIFT. Back then, SWIFT had 768 members, 36 countries connected and was exchanging 46.9 million messages a year. Today SWIFT has 9,000 members, 209 countries connected and 15 million messages are exchanged each day.
Three decades later, there is much more to celebrate than just achieving this milestone. It is the time to celebrate 30 years of collaboration with the vibrant Singapore financial community, the local authorities, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and our business partners.
At the Business Forum we shall look back at how much was accomplished in the last 30 years, but also focus on what we can do together to continue to build a better financial infrastructure in Singapore, in ASEAN and in Asia.
We look forward to celebrating with you at the Singapore Business Forum on 13 April.

As we travel along the path of recovery, the world is looking to Asia as an engine of growth, and with Singapore’s position as a top-ranked IFC, we need to look at the growth areas we must continue to cultivate. By the same token, what are the barriers that might impede Singapore climbing further up the ranks? A panel of key players representing the industry will give their wide-ranging views on this subject.
