As of September 2009, the electronic versions of the BIC directories will incorporate the new User Categories.
The initial 27 User categories (in the field “Subtype indicator”) have been reduced to 3 broader categories:

SUPE: Supervised Financial institutions
NOSU: Non Supervised entities active in the Financial industry
Closed User Group (MI and MA-CUGs), Corporate entities & Securities Market Data Providers and Financial Market regulators.
