On Friday 25 January 2008, only two days after the
previous peak day, traffic over SWIFTNet FIN recorded another peak with 16,550,075 messages. The new record represents an increase of 222,407 messages (1.4%) over the previous peak and closes the best week in SWIFT’s history.
As with the previous peak, the main contributor was securities messaging. Driven by volatility in the markets, securities messages also reached a new daily peak of more than 7.6 million SWIFTNet FIN messages, representing a growth of 5.7% compared to the previous peak.
“The year’s traffic continues to be very strong. All week long, we hovered around 16 million messages. Year to date FIN traffic, adjusted for business days, shows an impressive 25.5% growth compared with the same period in 2007," concludes
