Actionable recommendations delivering clear benefits

The SWIFT Business Assessment Programme is a consultative framework for improving business processes and examining operations against industry best practices.

Wachovia has recently completed its consultative project with SWIFT, enabling the bank to mitigate risk and improve automation in the back office.

“The goal of the SWIFT Business Assessment Programme for Wachovia was to review existing SWIFT-related processes, organisation structure, system architecture and governance models,” said Lee Vinten, Director Operations, Wachovia. “To accomplish this, we partnered with SWIFT to bring their industry wide knowledge to collaborate on the engagement.”

The recommendations from the findings of the exploratory project, undertaken with representatives from the affected Wachovia business lines, operations and IT management formed the basis for alternative solutions for the identified areas of improvement; positioning versus the competition; and immediate benefits. The recommendations have been presented to, accepted, and approved by the Wachovia Steering Committee. The new SWIFT proposed Governance will be implemented October 2007.

ABN AMRO North America is another SWIFT customer to have benefited from the programme. Graham Bromley, Executive Director at the Dutch firm will give a first-hand account of the experience during an information session at Sibos.
