In October 2012, SWIFT signed to the United Nations Global Compact, a strategic policy initiative calling companies to align their business strategies and day-to-day operations with Ten universally accepted Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
The initiative, launched in 2000, has grown to become a critical platform for the UN to engage effectively with global businesses and is today the largest corporate responsibility initiative in the world - with more than 10,000 participants, including over 7,000 businesses in 145 countries.
By joining the initiative, companies also commit to issue an annual Communication on Progress (COP), a public disclosure to stakeholders on progress made in implementing the Ten Principles.
SWIFT's first annual COP was submitted end-2013. The report is available on the UN Global Compact website and via a link on our main corporate web page swift.com.
Whilst confirming our commitment to UN Global Compact, the report provides information on our achievements in the past 12 months. It also helps us responding in an easy and coherent way to requests coming from customers through RFPs or directly from their CSR departments.
